The anti-virtue “patriotism” is a worldwide problem that gets a special spotlight in the U.S. this weekend (Independence Day was Friday, July 4). My thoughts on patriotism lead into lessons on the harms of nativism and what’s sometimes called “economic patriotism” (tariffs and other forms of protectionism).
