Great first episode, Domenic! I enjoyed the Bible study. In some versions, the rich man is introduced as “A certain ruler,” so I tend to think of him as someone from the Herodian clan. Jesus says after ascertaining that the certain ruler obeys the commandments, “but there is still one thing you lack.” It’s a seemingly paradoxical statement because the one thing he lacks is all the things he owns. And I think there’s something like that in most of our lives, though it need not be wealth. Something that we have in the physical realm, but our attachment to it creates a lack in the spiritual realm. Could be a belief, an identity, an addiction, or even an unhealthy relationship.

I think this is the essence of "Blessed are the poor in spirit." Those who lack unhealthy attachments have opened their souls to better things.
Hey, did you ever get to present the church discussion series on authority you were planning to some in-person audiences? Or did Helene interrupt your ministry there?

Thank you for mentioning my work!

Yes, I did it and was preparing to film myself giving the presentations for Substack when the storm hit.
